Latvala: Victory in home rally
Ford driver Jari-Matti Latvala held off a Citroen charge to take victory in front of his home fans at Rally Finland.
Latvala held a 9.1 second lead over the privately-entered Citroen of Petter Solberg heading into the final day but it was the factory machines of Sebastien Ogier and Sebastien Loeb who proved to be his closest challengers.
Ogier, who was making his debut in the factory team, immediately set about cutting his overnight deficit of 21.8 seconds by winning the day's opening stage.
Loeb also found his form after a disappointing Friday but Latvala was able to hold on, effectively securing the win by setting the fastest time on the penultimate stage.
Ogier eventually finished 10.1 seconds back while six-time champion Loeb took the remaining podium spot.
Solberg faded to fourth ahead of Dani Sordo, who was driving for the Citroen Junior team after stepping aside for Ogier. British driver Matthew Wilson followed in sixth with the Subaru of Mads Ostberg trailing him in seventh.
