Kings XV Punjab: Have signed Theron
Indian Premier League side Kings XI Punjab have signed South African fast bowler Juan Theron for the 2010 season.
Vereeniging-born Theron, who is yet to make his Proteas debut, has excelled for his domestic franchise, the Warriors, this season and has seen his efforts rewarded with a national contract and a spot in the preliminary 30-man squad for the World Twenty20.
The 24-year-old was the top wicket-taker in the 40-over tournament, where his 21 wickets helped boost his team to success, and is also ranked amongst the top bowlers in the first-class and Twenty20 competitions.
He will leave for India on Friday following the Warriors' clash against Lions in the local 20-over final, and will be expected to bolster Punjab's pace attack, which has been decimated by injuries.
West Indian paceman Jerome Taylor has been ruled out of the tournament, while Australia's Brett Lee, Indian Irfan Pathan and another South African, Yusuf Abdullah, have not yet made a full return to fitness.
