Skysports.com understands St Johnstone have snapped up Falkirk striker Carl Finnigan on a free transfer.

The former Newcastle youngster was out of contract this summer and he has now opted for an SPL return.

The 24-year-old scored 25 goals during four seasons for the club, although the past two years have been in the First Division.

He will now make his SPL return at McDiarmid Park next season after agreeing a one-year deal with the Perth outfit.

St Johnstone finished eighth in the SPL table term and manager Derek McInnes will be hoping Finnigan helps them to do even better this time around.
