Skysports.com understands that Sven Goran Eriksson is back in contention to retake the manager's job with the Ivory Coast.
The Swede left his role as boss following the Elephants' failure to make it out of the group stage during the World Cup and has been linked with several vacancies ever since.
The former England boss is among the favourites for the Aston Villa job following Martin O'Neill's decision to leave the Premier League club, but it is thought that the Ivorians are keen to bring Eriksson back.
He is also thought to be attracting interest from the China national team, who are reportedly offering a three million euros yearly deal, but the 62-year-old has yet to make a decision.
The news comes in the wake of Gerard Gili's choice not to take the job on a full-time basis, however he is still open to further talks
The Frenchman was linked with a return after a spell as assistant manager from 2004 to 2006, but rejected the chance due to the current conditions.
"After a good period of thought, I decided that I cannot coach the Ivorian team. The conditions are not right," Gili was quoted as saying in the Fraternite Matin newspaper.
"Things could move (forward). I don't know exactly when, but the door remains open for more talks."
