Spain and Brazil both recorded victories during their friendly ecnounters versus Venezuela and Romania respectively.

World and European champions Spain saw off Venezuela 3-0 courtesy of first-half goals from David Villa, Pedro and Xabi Alonso.

Brazil, meanwhile, defeated Romania 1-0 in Sao Paolo as legendary striker Ronaldo played his final match for his country.

Ronaldo was unable to mark the occassion with a goal, with Fred the man on target in the 21st minute.

Australia extended their unbeaten run on home soil to 10 matches with a goalless draw against Serbia in Melbourne.

In an engaging, but scoreless contest, it took an impressive display from Socceroos goalkeeper Adam Federici to keep the streak going as the visitors pressed for a winner during the final 10 minutes.

Federici, who plies his trade in the Championship for Reading, pulled off a string of acrobatic saves to thwart midfielder Radosav Petrovic in particular.

Japan were held to a goalless draw by Czech Republic in the final game of the Kirin Cup in Yokohama.

Japan remain unbeaten in 10 games under coach Alberto Zaccheroni, but were held to a second successive stalemate following the 0-0 draw with Peru last week.

The three teams shared the Kirin Cup title after Peru and Czech Republic were also unable to find a goal when they met on Saturday.

A last-minute goal from Koo Ja-cheol gave South Korea a 2-1 victory over Ghana in their friendly at Jeonju World Cup Stadium.

The Wolfsburg midfielder scrambled home from close range after Asamoah Gyan - who also missed a first-half penalty - had cancelled out Ji Dong-won's opener.

Austria came from 1-0 down to beat Latvia 3-1 in Graz, ending a run of five straight defeats.

Pavels Mihadjuks put Latvia ahead in the 49th minute, but Austria finished the match strongly, levelling with 15 minutes remaining when young defender Christopher Dibon headed in before Martin Harnik netted a late double, the second a penalty.

The game finished shamefully for Latvia, who had three men sent off in the late stages. Mihadjuks was dismissed after a second bookable offence in the 88th minute, and Andris Vanins and Oskars Klava both saw red before the final whistle.

Norway secured a 1-0 home win over Lithuania, with Blackburn winger Morten Gamst Pedersen their match-winner.

Pedersen netted in the 84th minute, volleying in from close range after his penalty was parried.

Russia and Cameroon played out a goalless draw in their friendly, staged in Salzburg.

Elsewhere, Ecuador and Greece drew 1-1 at Citi Field, the home of New York Mets.
