Serbia coach Radomir Antic has stated that he wants to stay on as manager of his country despite their early exit from the World Cup.

The 61-year-old, who took over in August 2008, was expected to guide his side through to the knockout stages of the tournament following an impressive qualification campaign.

However the Serbians struggled, losing 1-0 to Ghana and 2-1 to Australia despite a 1-0 victory over Germany to finish bottom of Group D, although they came within a goal of qualification for the last 16.

Jorge Larrionda, the man at the centre of the controversy in England's defeat to Germany by not allowing Frank Lampard's effort which clearly crossed the line, was also chastised by Serbia for failing to give what looked like a clear penalty in the dying seconds of the Australia defeat

Good impression

Antic insisted that he will take Serbia on to qualifying for the 2012 European Championship, and had no intention of leaving.

"When I signed a contract with the Serbian Federation I accepted a contractual obligation," Antic said in a press conference.

"And I have no intention of going back on it."

"I think that we made a good impression.

"We beat Germany and gave it our all in trying to win our third match (against Australia). I believe that those are sufficient grounds for me to continue in charge of the national side."
