Oxford United manager Chris Wilder felt his side were good value for their 1-0 League Two win over Dagenham on Tuesday.
On-loan striker Robert Hall got his U's career off to a flying start, scoring the game's only goal on his debut.
Wilder said: "It was a great performance from the boys and I think we deserved the win in the end. It is always a difficult place to come and not many sides will come here and get a point let alone three, so we must be pleased to get the win.
"Alfie Potter has got into some dangerous positions and in his mind he will have been disappointed not to convert any of the chances he created, but their keeper did well.
"It was a difficult game for Robert (Hall) to come into being near his stomping ground and being well known by the fans and their boss John Still, who knows just how dangerous he can be. But it was good for him to get off to a goal-scoring start.
"He took his goal well and in the second half he was a danger again."
