Montpellier edged out Nice thanks to a goal from Souleymane Camara at the Stade de la Mosson to return to the top of the table.

The Senegalese striker bagged the only goal in the game with quarter of an hour to go after a period of sustained pressure.

Garry Bocaly raced down the right before crossing for Camara to finish from the edge of the area with a left-footed shot.

Nice were unlucky not to level three minutes later when Abraham Guie Guie headed against the crossbar from a corner, and then Nemanja Pejcinovic also struck the bar with a shot on the follow-up.

Nancy are still waiting for their first win of the season after playing out a goalless draw at home to Auxerre.

The Lorraine club dominated for long periods but Auxerre came closest to a winner when Edouard Cisse hit the woodwork just before half-time.

It meant Nancy had to be content with ending a four-game losing streak in all competitions - a run that included a 2-1 reverse at home to Auxerre in the Coupe de la Ligue a fortnight ago.

Pastore strikes

In the late game, Paris Saint-Germain moved up to fourth spot in the standings after a 1-0 victory at home to Brest.

The capital giants, who spent £86m during the summer transfer window, had to wait until late in the second half before breaking the deadlock against their stubborn opponents at the Parc des Princes.

And it was head coach Antoine Kombouare's most expensive summer acquisition, Javier Pastore, who scored the winning goal.

Some good work from Jeremy Menez allowed the Argentina international to send his right-foot effort into the back of the net.

It was the first time Alex Dupont's Bretons had tasted defeat this season.
