Rachel Wyse has spoken of her pride at raising more than £11,000 for Cancer Research after partnering Silent Jo in the St Patrick's Day Derby at the Cheltenham Festival.

The Sky Sports News presenter finished unplaced on Jonjo O'Neill's charge and admits she'd love another crack at the race in the future.

"That's the most exhausting thing I've ever done," she said afterwards. "The race went well but at the bottom of the hill both horse and jockey began to get a little tired! AP McCoy said I did everything right though which was great.

"I have so many people to thank for their help along the way, especially JP McManus and those who kindly donated to my Just Giving page. It's been incredible. We're raised over £150,000 between the 12 riders for a great charity and I've had the most wonderful six weeks. I'd do it all again in a heartbeat."

Andy Cairns, head of Sky Sports News, paid tribute to his colleague saying: "We are so proud of Rachel. It's an amazing achievement to do what she has done given she'd never sat on a racehorse until six weeks ago.

"It's testament to the professional way she approaches everything that it's gone so well."

Dale Tempest of sponsors Sky Bet said: "We are very proud of Rachel and delighted everyone came back safe and so much money was raised for a wonderful cause."

The race was won by Lorna Fowler on hot favourite Plato, trained by the legendary Henry Cecil.
