  1. Image: Work started early ahead of day 10 at the US Open at Flushing Meadows.
  2. Image: Flavia Pennetta was bidding to reach her first grand slam singles semi-final.
  3. Image: She was up against fellow Italian and 10th seed Roberta Vinci.
  4. Image: It was Pennetta who prevailed 6-4 6-1 to continue her superb run in New York.
  5. Image: There was plenty of respect between the two Italians at the end of the match.
  6. Image: Next up on Arthur Ashe was fourth seed David Ferrer.
  7. Image: He was taking on the eighth seed - Richard Gasquest of France.
  8. Image: Gasquet made a superb start and took the first two sets.
  9. Image: But Ferrer hit back to claim the third set.
  10. Image: And suddenly it wasn't all plain sailing anymore for Gasquet.
  11. Image: Ferrer dug even deeper to take the fourth set and send the match into a decider.
  12. Image: But in the end it was Gasquet who was celebrating a place in the semi-finals
