Grigor Dimitrov suffered his fourth defeat in his last five matches to exit the Miami Open in the third round to world No 90 Jeremy Chardy.
The Bulgarian secured his first tour victory since his run to the Rotterdam final against Maximilian Marterer on Saturday but was unable to make it back-to-back wins as he lost 6-4 6-4 to the Frenchman in one hour and 24 minutes.
Dimitrov, the third seed, was the tournament's biggest casualty on Sunday as Grand Slam finalist Milos Raonic continued his return from injury woes with an impressive 7-6(7-5) 6-3 victory against Argentine Diego Schwartzman at Crandon Park.
Raonic, the former world No 3, underwent wrist surgery last summer before he brought a halt his 2017 campaign with a calf complaint but underlined his credentials at the top of the game with a run to the BNP Paribas Open semi-finals at Indian Wells earlier this month.
The 27-year-old will next meet Chardy in the last 16 and will bid to maintain his unbeaten head-to-head record in the pair's seventh meeting.
American home favourite John Isner booked a match-up with second seed Marin Cilic after the big-serving 14th seed proved too strong for Russian Mikhail Youzhny 6-4 6-3.
