Czech Republic beaten in final of Dusseldorf event

Janko Tipsarevic and Viktor Troicki sealed World Team Cup glory for Serbia after they claimed a 2-0 win over the Czech Republic in Dusseldorf. Tipsarevic squeezed past Tomas Berdych 7-5 7-6 (10/8) and Troicki ensured Serbia's victory after overcoming a sluggish start to beat Radek Stepanek 2-6 6-4 6-3. It was Serbia's second triumph in the competition, with Tipsarevic and Troicki also part of the 2009-winning squad. Both sides had won all three group matches, with the Czech Republic trying to capture their third title and the first since 1987. But world number eight Tipsarevic ended a three-match losing run against the big-hitting Berdych in one hour and 57 minutes to give Serbia the advantage. Troicki then recovered from a terrible start to defeat Stepanek in two hours and eight minutes to clinch the team title for Serbia. The singles successes mean the doubles match - due to be played later on Saturday - is a dead rubber.
