Top seed Dominika Cibulkova booked her spot in the second round of the BMW Malaysian Open with a 6-1 6-3 win over Perma Ozgen.
Cibulkova, who has won in Acapulco this year as well as reaching the Australian Open final, needed just over an hour to complete the win after rain had delayed the start of the match.
Turkish qualifier Ozgen lost seven of the first eight games before finally finding her feet in the second set and adding a little respectability to the scoreline.
“In the first set I was feeling quite good, but in the second set I changed my racquet for new balls and it was a little mistake from my side, because the tension was not right," Cibulkova told the WTA’s official website.
"When it was 2-3 I changed my racquet again and I was back on the track I needed to be on. Overall I was very aggressive and didn't give her a chance to play slice and get me off the court."
Meanwhile, fourth seed Patricia Mayr-Achleitner and No 6 seed Zarina Diyas both won in the second round to progress to the last eight.
Mayr-Achleitner defeated Danka Kovinic 6-4 3-6 6-1 while Diyas eased to a 6-1 6-4 win against Giulia Gatto-Monticone.
