ATP AEGON International: Britain's James Ward beaten in first round by Donald Young

British No 3 James Ward was eliminated in the first round of the AEGON International after being defeated 6-3 6-2 by Donald Young.
Ward was given a wild card entry into the event but could not make it over the first hurdle as he was well beaten by the American.
Ward failed to muster a single break point opportunity on Young's serve while his opponent took advantage of three of his 10 opportunities to ease over the line.
Also in the men's first round, Colombian seventh seed Santiago Giraldo fell 6-3 6-7 (5-7) 6-3 to Finland's Jarkko Nieminen.
French duo Edouard Roger-Vasselin and Julien Benneteau were also winners, clinching straight sets wins over Andrey Kuznetsov and Lu Yen-Hsun respectively.
