Top seed John Isner reached the BB&T Atlanta Open semi-finals with a straight-sets win over Australian Marinko Matosevic.
The American took the first set on a tie-break after both men broke serve once in the set.
He then took the only break point of the second set to clinch victory over the eighth seed.
Dutchman Thiemo de Bakker was unable to build on his shock win over second seed Kevin Anderson, losing 6-4 6-2 to Germany's Benjamin Becker.
Dudi Sela and Jack Sock make up the semi-final line-up following their respective victories over Vasek Pospisil and Lukas Lacko.
Sela caused an upset by knocking out fourth-seeded Canadian Pospisil 7-5 1-6 6-2 and the Israeli will now face Becker for a place in the final.
American Sock, meanwhile, faced a battle to overcome Lacko in the first set of their quarter-final encounter but then found progress slightly easier as he defeated the Slovakian 7-6 (8/6) 6-2. Next up for Sock is 6ft 10in compatriot Isner.
