Maximo Gonzalez provided the biggest shock of the opening day of the ATP Kitzbuhel tournament by knocking out eighth seed Pablo Carreno-Busta.
It was the first time that Gonzalez, a qualifier for the clay court event in Austria, has dispatched an opponent ranked inside the top 60 for almost a year.
Two match points had to be saved in a dramatic deciding set before the Argentinian was able to complete a 6-3 4-6 7-5 in two hours and 30 minutes.
Ramos-Vinolas overcame fellow qualifier Viktor Galovic 6-7 (7-5) 7-5 6-2 in the same time to progress into the second round.
Pere Riba's reward for dispatching Dustin Brown 7-6 (7-5) 7-5 - leaking 14 aces in the process - is a second-round clash with fourth seed Andreas Seppi.
Andreas Haider-Maurer beat fellow Austrian and wildcard Gerald Melzer 6-2 7-6 (7-1) to set up a meeting against third seed Lukas Rosol.
