Andy Murray’s biggest threats at the Washington Open are in action on Tuesday night.
Kei Nishikori, the second seed, and Marin Cilic, seeded three, take to the American capital live on Sky Sports 1 HD at 9pm.
The two players play their second-round matches and represent the most obvious danger to top seed Murray’s chances of beginning the American hard court season with a title win.
Nishikori and Cilic will be aiming to demonstrate the talent that could trouble Murray later in the tournament because they have both been paired against unseeded opposition. Nishikori meets Australia’s James Duckworth before Cilic takes on Korea’s Hyeon Chung.
The Japanese world No 5 and the Croatian world No 8 enjoyed their American hard court campaign last year, culminating when they met in the US Open final at Flushing Meadows which Cilic won.
Elsewhere, Lleyton Hewitt’s career continues to wind down but the veteran Australian has entered the Washington Open as a wild card. He plays his compatriot John-Patrick Smith.
A host of Americans are also in action in front of their home crowd. Sam Querrey, seeded 13th, meets Japan’s Go Soeda while Donald Young takes on Canadian 12th seed Vasek Pospisil. Jack Sock, the 15th seed, meets Belgian Ruben Bemelmans.
Experienced pair Marcos Baghdatis and Alexandr Dolgopolov round off Tuesday, taking on Guido Pella and Tim Smyczek.
Watch the Washington 500 and every tournament in the US Series leading up to the US Open live on Sky Sports this summer.
