Jamie Murray and John Peers are through to the semi-finals of the Men's Doubles in the US Open

Jamie Murray and John Peers have reached the semi-finals of the US Open men's doubles after a battling win at Flushing Meadows.

Britain's Murray and Australian Peers, who were losing finalists at this year's Wimbledon, fought back from a set down to defeat the fourth seeds Marcin Matkowski and Nenad Zimonjic 3-6 6-3 7-6 (7-4) in New York.

The eighth seeds will face either Steve Johnson and Sam Querrey or Leonardo Mayer and Joao Sousa as they attempt to seize their second opportunity to win a Grand Slam title this year.

Murray and Peers fell short in the doubles at the All England Club, losing to Jean-Julien Rojer and Horia Tecau.

Andy Murray welcomed his older brother's success on social media after suffering a fourth round defeat to Kevin Anderson in the singles on Monday night.

He tweeted: "That made me feel much better."
