Nadia Petrova beat Shahar Peer 7-5 6-2 in the final of the Citi Open in Maryland to claim her 10th WTA Tour title.
The Russian had to recover from early breaks in both sets on her way to her first tournament win since she won in Quebec in 2008.
The 32-year-old levelled at 2-2 in the first set and although Peer saved three break points to reach 4-4 Petrova got the breakthrough in the 12th game to take the opener.
The Israeli got off to a good start again in the second set, breaking and holding for 2-0, but Petrova rattled off the next six games to wrap up victory in 87 minutes when Peer overhit a forehand.
"I have been waiting for this one patiently and I'm very happy to come away with my 10th title. It's a good achievement," said Petrova, who is unbeaten in six meetings with Peer.
"I knew Shahar was not able to hurt me with her serve. I knew if I was serving solid I would be very difficult to break..It was an important match. I'm sure it's going to give me a lot of confidence for other tournaments."
