The in-form Radwanska has yet to drop a set in 2013 - winning titles in Auckland and Sydney along the way - and she continued her impressive run with a 6-3 6-1 victory.
The scoreline, though, doesn't do Watson justice, with the British No 1 fighting hard on the Hisense Arena.
And Watson can take plenty away from the first major of the year - especially her earlier wins over Alexandra Cadantu and Ksenia Pervak.
The 20-year-old had chances against Radwanska but the Pole ultimately had too much guile and experience.
Radwanska broke twice en route to a 5-2 lead - and although Watson managed to pull one of the games back, she dropped her serve again to lose the first set.
Watson wasted two break chances at the start of the second set, with the 23-year-old Radwanska making her pay for her profligacy.
Radwanska held and stormed into a 5-0 lead before Watson was able to finally get a game on the board. All it did was to delay the inevitable as Radwanska served out for the win.
Radwanska will now face a fourth-round clash with Ana Ivanovic.
