Robson defeated Zheng Saisai 6-3 7-6 (4) while compatriot Konta produced an outstanding performance to dispose of fourth seed Peng Shuai 6-1 6-3 and book her first career quarter-final.
Robson, 19, is looking to at least replicate her feat of last year's tournament when she became the first British player to reach a WTA final for 22 years.
She will next face Zheng Jie, who claimed victory over Hungary's Timea Babos 7-5, 7-6 (1).
Sydney-born Konta, ranked 141st in the world, claimed arguably the finest victory of her career by beating world No 38 Shuai.
Konta, 22, had to win two qualifying matches before securing her place in round one and she will face unseeded Zhang Shuai for a spot in the final four after she beat reigning champion Hsieh Su-Wei of Taiwan.
Sixth-seeded Hsieh lost her second-round match against her Chinese opponent 6-2 6-2 in little over an hour.
Meanwhile, France's Alize Cornet beat Karolina Pliskova of the Czech Republic in her second-round match after an early scare.
The second seed was taken to a tie-break in the first set, but won it 7-4 before dominating the second set and taking it to love.
Cornet will play Yvonne Meusburger next following the Austrian's 2-6 6-2 6-4 victory over Serbia's Vesna Dolonc.
Also through to the quarter-finals are Vania King from the United States, who won her clash with Serbia's Bojana Jovanovski 6-4 0-6 6-4 while eighth seed Monica Puig dropped just five games in a 6-3 6-2 victory over Galina Voskoboeva of Kazakhstan.
