With new coach Boris Becker watching on from the stands, Djokovic defeated Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga 7-6 (7/5) 6-3, while Ferrer upset world number one Rafael Nadal 6-4 6-4.
Djokovic's win was his 25th consecutive victory and cemented his status as favourite for next month's Australian Open.
Afterwards, the world number two confirmed he will not play any other warm-up events ahead of 2014's first grand slam, which begins in Melbourne on January 13.
Djokovic said: "I'm not going to play in the opening weeks of the season because I feel like I didn't have enough time to get myself in the right shape for competition mode.
Nadal off the pace
"It is why I have selected to play only in these few matches here and then move on to Melbourne."
In the other semi, Ferrer looked the sharper from the start against his Spanish rival, breaking in the ninth game to take the first set.
It was more of the same in the second set as Nadal struggled to find his range against an opponent who already had a game under his belt, having defeated Stanislas Wawrinka in the quarter-finals on Thursday.
"I think the fact that I had already played a game on the same surface meant that I was better prepared than Rafa," Ferrer said.
"I am happy with the state of my game and will look to produce my best tennis for the final."
