The pair were two points away from victory in the second-set tie-break against American Eric Butorac and South Africa's Raven Klaasen but eventually lost 6-7 (3-7) 7-6 (8-6) 6-4.
Huey's serve was broken in the seventh game but the Filipino's mis-hit return on break point in the next game turned into a perfect lob and they levelled at 4-4.
Huey and Inglot, from London, missed a set point in the 12th game but won the final four points of the tie-break.
The second set was extremely tight, with only a couple of break points, and it looked like Butorac and Klaasen were poised to win the tie-break at 6-3.
Huey and Inglot saved all three set points but a fourth followed and this time the British doubles No 1 netted a volley.
The crucial moments of the match came at the end of the deciding set. First Huey saved a break point in a long service game to make it 4-3, and he and Inglot had four chances to break the Butorac serve but all of them went begging.
When Butorac and Klaasen brought up 0-40 on the Inglot serve, they were not so charitable, and the South African served out the victory.
It has nevertheless been a good week for Huey and Inglot, who also reached the quarter-finals at the US Open.
