British duo Heather Watson and James Ward have qualified for the main draws at this week’s Western & Southern Open in Cincinnati.

Watson is in good form at present and, having fallen 1-3 behind against Shahar Peer, she reeled off 11 games in a row to claim a 6-3 6-0 victory.

The British No 1 will return to the top 50 in the world rankings on Monday, having made it to the third round at the Rogers Cup in Montreal earlier this week.

Ward only made it through to qualifying for Cincinnati as an alternate but has justified his place with back-to-back wins over players ranked in the top 100.
