Broady, Ward-Hibbert dominate boys' doubles final in Melbourne
British youngsters Liam Broady and Joshua Ward-Hibbert won the Australian Open boys' doubles title on Friday.
The British pairing proved too good for their Czech-Croat rivals Adam Pavlasek and Filip Veger, winning 6-3 6-2 in the final at Melbourne Park.
The sixth seeds served well throughout and did not have to face a single break point in the match, losing only five points on their own delivery.
A single break was enough to claim the first set and two more followed in a quickfire second, the match wrapped up in just 44 minutes.
Broady, who recently turned 18, finished runner-up in the singles at Junior Wimbledon last year and is currently ranked third in the world junior rankings. Ward-Hibbert is ranked 44th but will now rise as a result of his efforts Down Under where he also made the quarter-finals of the boys' singles.
