Caroline Wozniacki Player Profile
Caroline Wozniacki: Two-time beaten finalist
Former world number one Wozniacki is a player who thrives in the US Open.
The Dane lost last year's final to close friend Serena Williams, having been beaten five years earlier by Kim Clijsters. Those are her only two Grand Slam finals.
A former partner of world golf number one Rory McIlroy, Wozniacki may be slightly disappointed with her season so far given how strongly she finished 2014.
However, she played nicely enough at Wimbledon, losing to eventual finalist Garbiñe Muguruza in round four, and with that in mind it's something of a surprise that she's yet to win a match since reverting back to hardcourts.
The Dane has added more aggression to her game in recent times but a lack of power means she is still regarded as more of a defender.
That game style got her to world number one (without, of course, winning a Grand Slam title) but she has now been overtaken and certainly faces a tough task to see off her rivals over the next fortnight.
An interesting footnote is that Wozniacki's father was a Polish footballer, who transferred to a Danish club during his career, while her mother represented Poland in volleyball.
