Player Profile

Murray returns Down Under continuing his crusade to become the first British male since Fred Perry in 1936 to win a singles Grand Slam.

The Scot labelled 2009 his best season yet and heads to Melbourne as one of the favourites to clinch the opening major of the 2010 campaign.

Murray endured a mixed Grand Slam season in '09, a semi-final appearance at SW19 being his longest run. However, a quarter-final appearance at Roland Garros was arguably his most impressive.

His last assault on the Melbourne trophy was brought to an end in round four by beaten semi-finalist Fernando Verdasco after a gripping five-set tussle.

The sweltering conditions may have also got the better of him that day, but Murray will take some stopping this time around.
