Player Profile

Del Potro was one of the big climbers on the ATP rankings in 2008.

During the second half of the campaign, the 20-year-old won four ATP tournaments back to back to climb from 65th in early July to ninth by the season's end.

Since then he's cracked the top five, winning in Auckland at the start of the year and then reaching the semis of the Miami Masters, where he ousted Rafael Nadal.

With a big serve and great power off the ground, Del Potro has the game to take on the best, although it has always been a struggle for him on the clay.

It's fair to say the Argentine may well be eyeing the grasscourt season where his booming delivery will earn him plenty of easy points, although a recent victory over Andy Murray in Madrid will have lifted he claycourt confidence.

Will now be confident of making the second week for the first time, but it's hard to see him being a true title contender.
