Player Profile

Marin Cilic powered into the top 20 in the world following wins in Chennai and hometown Zagreb this year, and his odds to challenge in New York could provide sound each-way value.

The 20-year-old Croat has won all three of his ATP titles on the hardcourts, although a disappointing lead-up to the main event has created cause for concern for Cilic fans.

The 6ft 6in athlete has struggled for form since reaching the last 16 of the French Open. However, he will be determined to finish the season with a flourish in only his third visit to Flushing Meadows.

Cilic gave Novak Djokovic a scare in New York in the third round of the Grand Slam last year by taking the opening set and he is more than capable of producing a shock or two this time out.
