Player Profile

After a year blighted by injury, Manacor's finest heads to the English capital with a point to prove.

Nadal failed in his attempt to become only the seventh man in history to complete a full set of majors with a crushing defeat to Juan Martin Del Detro at the US Open.

That said, his semi-final run was a credible achievement after tendonitis had kept him off court for 10 weeks.

After relinquishing his world number one ranking in the process, Nadal bounced back with consecutive semi-final appearances in Cincinnati, New York and Beijing before falling to Nikolay Davydenko in the Shanghai final.

The Spaniard has never reached an ATP Tour Masters final. Injury hampering has hopes in 2005 and 2008 and Roger Federer eliminating him at the semi-final stage in '06 & '07.

Doubts still remain over his fitness, however Nadal will still be expected to mount a serious assault on the elusive title.
