The former world number three is surging back up the rankings having fallen out of the game's elite.
From his 2006 high, the big-serving Croat slumped as low as 76 last season before starting his fightback.
On the slick surfaces which favour his game, Ljubicic enjoyed a successful second half of 2009 and carried that form into this season.
What followed in March was arguably the greatest moment of his career - Masters 1000 success in Indian Wells where he beat Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Andy Roddick.
Sadly for 'Lubo' he suffered an abdominal muscle tear in the build-up to Roland Garros, putting his participation in doubt.
Even if he does show, a poor claycourt record (a 2006 semi-final here aside) suggests he'll struggle to compete with the best.
