Soderling - Finalist last year

Player Profile

Soderling shocked the tennis world when he dispatched king of clay Rafael Nadal in the fourth round of last year's French Open.

The big-serving Swede went all the way to the final before waning to world number one Roger Federer.

The 25-year-old's appearance in last year's final of the Roland Garros event was something of a surprise, considering his game is based around his huge serve and groundstrokes, a style better suited to the other surfaces.

But a runners-up showing in Barcelona confirms Soderling's ability on the terre battue and he cannot be ruled out of going deep again.
