Schiavone - French Open champion.

Player Profile

The Italian will be one of the buzz players at Wimbledon this year.

Little known to many grasscourt-only fans, Schiavone was the surprise winner of the recent French Open, claiming the title at the grand old age of 29.

In doing so she became the second-oldest first-time winner of the Grand Slam title in the Open era and moved into the world's top six.

Look out for her classic one-handed backhand - although its long wind-up isn't idea for the slick grasscourts.

That's reflected by the fact that in 10 previous visits to the All England Club Schiavone has made the second week only once, although in fairness that was last year when she suffered quarter-final defeat.

Will do well to repeat that trick in 2010.
