Player Profile

Rafael Nadal heads to Wimbledon in the type of form which will send shivers down the spines of his rivals.

Fresh from decimating the field en route to a fifth French Open title - and number one ranking to boot - the Spaniard is back to his destructive former self.

His form this season is superb - 25 victories on the bounce propelling him to glory in Monte Carlo, Rome, Madrid and Paris.

The Spaniard looked destined for another title at Queen's but an inspired display by close friend Feliciano Lopez saw him come unstuck in the last eight of the AEGON Championship.

The 2008 Wimbledon champion was unable to defend his crown last year through injury. However, it will take something extraordinary to stop him pitching up at SW19 this time out.

The epic 6-4 6-4 6-7 (5-7) 6-7 (8-10) 9-7 victory over Federer 24 months ago is regarded by many as the greatest Grand Slam final of all time.

And the Wimbledon crowd can expect to see more of his relentless and tireless approach to the game which has seen him grind so many opponents into submission over the years.
