(10) Flavia Pennetta
- DOB: 25/02/1982
- Nationality: ITA
- Became Pro: 2000
- Height: 1.72
Pennetta enjoyed a breakthrough season in 2009 as she became the first Italian to break into the top 10 and also helped her country secure their second Fed Cup title.
But the 28-year-old has endured a frustrating 2010 with a disappointing second-round exit at the Australian Open and a last-16 run in Paris.
Sandwiched between both Grand Slams, the Switzerland-based right-hander recorded an impressive seven-match winning streak in April which included her ninth career title on the Marbella clay.
Pennetta, who has defeated six former Grand Slam champions including Justine Henin, has struggled on the grass though, winning just 12 of 21 matches at the All England Club.
She has reached the second week just twice in nine visits, but the feisty Italian does have the shots to cause problems this time out.
