Player Profile

Li became the first Chinese player to break into the world's top 10 in February after a storming semi-final run at the Australian Open.

A disappointing hardcourt campaign saw the three-time WTA title winner slip down the rankings, but she was back to somewhere near her best at the Madrid Open with a quarter-final run.

The 28-year-old right-hander, who donated all her prize money from Madrid to the relief effort following the recent earthquakes in her home country, will count herself unlucky with her draw at Roland Garros.

After overcoming French duo Kristina Mladenovic and Stephanie Cohen-Aloro in the opening rounds, Li found herself the other side of the net to an inspired Francesca Schiavone - the Italian going on to win the title.

But her grasscourt season started in style, Li scooping her first WTA title on the green stuff when she overcame Maria Sharapova in the AEGON Championship final in Birmingham.

Her Wimbledon record shows potential - a quarter-final run in 2006 her best in four visits to the All England Club.

She is unlikely to be the queen of SW19, but is more than capable of causing a shock or two along the way.
