Mardy Fish - not a great record on clay.

Player Profile

The American surged up the rankings to a career-high of 16 in the second half of last season thanks to a string of impressive results.

Fish won titles at Newport and Atlanta in his homeland before reaching the final of the Cincinnati Masters, where he beat Andy Murray and Andy Roddick before losing a closely-fought final to Roger Federer.

When his first serve is firing as it did for much of last summer, Fish is tough to beat and he will now be looking to improve his woeful record at the French Open.

The 29-year-old has won only twice in five visits to Roland Garros and his recent form on the red stuff does little to suggest he will improve on his record here.

He will be counting down the days until the hard-court season returns.
