Marion Bartoli's most famous run came at Wimbledon in 2007 when she made the final after stunning semi-final success over Justine Henin.

She lost to Venus Williams on her Grand Slam final debut and hasn't returned to the game's biggest stage since.

However, she has been highly consistent in recent years and finished in the top 10 last season after a string of impressive results.

Bartoli delighted her home fans with a run to the semi-finals at Roland Garros and then made the last eight at Wimbledon where Serena Williams was among her victims.

The Frenchwoman is easily recoginised by her style of play - she plays two-handed off both wings, an usual trait in the modern game.

Impressive defence is another key to Bartoli's success.

After some impressive performances at the recent Hopman Cup in Perth, she'll be confident of another strong showing in Melbourne.
