Fourth seed Caroline Wozniacki is refusing to look too far ahead after she got her Australian Open challenge off to a winning start.
Wozniacki, who reached the final of the US Open, overcame Canada's Aleksandra Wozniak 6-4 6-2 in the first round.
And although the 19-year-old is one of the favourites for the title, the Dane insists she is under no extra pressure.
"I always just look one match at a time and I want to win. That's my goal," she said.
"Then, you know, I try not to put more pressure on myself than I already do."
Next up for Wozniacki is Julia Goerges - and although she has seen little of the German in action, she is still expecting a tricky encounter.
"I know her pretty well like a girl, but I haven't seen too many of her matches," said Wozniacki.
"But I know she can play on a really high level. She has a good serve and she's an aggressive player. It's going to be another tough match."
Seventh seed Victoria Azarenka powered her way into the second round with a crushing 6-2 6-0 rout over France's Stephanie Cohen-Aloro, while ninth seed Vera Zvonareva recorded the same scoreline in her demolition of Kristina Kucova.
In a good day for the seeds in the remaining first round games, Li Na, Shahar Peer and Daniela Hantuchova also progressed.
China's 16th seed Li brushed past New Zealand's Marina Erakovic 6-2 6-0, 29th seeded Peer battled back to beat Lucie Hradecka 6-7 (5-7) 6-2 6-1, while Hantuchova, the No.22 seed, also needed three sets before beating Viktoriya Kutuzova 3-6 6-1 7-5.
However 29th ranked Elena Vesnina fell at the first hurdle as she lost 7-6 (7-5) 6-4 to Tathiana Garbin.
