British teenager Laura Robson defied tiredness as she stormed into the semi-finals of the Australian Open girls' championships.

A delayed start to her doubles quarter-final on Wednesday meant Robson didn't get to bed until the early hours of the morning.

However, she showed no ill-effects of the scheduling as she crushed Ester Goldfeld 6-1 6-0 in just 43 minutes.

And Robson, who alongside doubles partner Sally Peer lost Maria Kirilenko and Agnieszka Radwanska in the last eight, admitted that the late finish had actually worked out in her favour.

Focused

"One of the reasons I played good is that I knew I was tired from last night and I had to be extra focused," she said.

"The scheduling is what it is, I was never going to complain about it. It's good that I got the win today."

Robson, who now faces Krisyna Pliskova after the Czech player upset top seed Timea Babos, believes that her shock run in the doubles has had a positive impact on her form in the junior tournament.

"If anything it's helped me because I feel more comfortable coming in. It's been very helpful," she said.

"Sally played well in the doubles as well so hopefully we can play together again in the future."
