Roger Federer booked his place in the second week of Wimbledon with a comprehensive 6-3 6-3 6-1 victory over Marc Gicquel.
The top seed won his third match of the tournament without losing a set, recovering from an early break of serve to dominate his French opponent.
Federer will take on former champion Lleyton Hewitt in the fourth round after the Australian enjoyed a similarly straight-forward success against Simone Bolelli of Italy, 6-1 6-3 7-6.
It was Federer's 62nd triumph in succession on grass, and he requires four more next week to become the first player in the modern era to win six titles in a row.
"It was windy out there and the conditions were difficult. He's a very aggressive player who takes a big swing at the ball," said Federer.
"I lost my serve in the first game but I rallied back and played well under the circumstances. I'm into the second week, I have a few days off and I haven't dropped a set, so I'm very happy."
Hewitt outclassed his opponent as he dominated the first two sets against the world number 46, who finally showed some resistance in the third as he saved a match point on the way to a tie-break.
However, the Aussie was always on top in the breaker and sealed his passage into the last 16 for the fifth year in succession.
