Fourth seed Svetlana Kuznetsova slipped to a 6-4 1-6 7-5 defeat at the hands of Agnieszka Radwanska in the fourth round at Wimbledon.
The Russian, who was the highest seed left in the tournament following the exits of Ana Ivanovic, Maria Sharapova and Jelena Jankovic, was out-manoeuvred by her teenage opponent from Poland.
Never since seedings began in 1927 have none of the top three made in to the quarter-finals but now not even the top four will not be represented this time.
Having fallen one set down, Kuznetsova recovered well and seemed to be in full control after strolling through the second to restore parity before breaking early in the next and then forging 4-1 ahead.
However the 19-year-old, seeded 14, battled back bravely to send another top seed crashing out and set up a quarter-final clash with Serena Williams.
