Real Madrid's Gareth Bale soared up the Sky Sports La Liga Power Rankings to reach No 3 this week, but failed to topple Lionel Messi.

Zinedine Zidane's side rekindled goal-scoring form after a torrid run of results, with Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo both scoring twice during a 7-1 win against Deportivo.

Chart-topper Messi also scored a double during Barcelona's 5-0 win at Real Betis - extending his lead atop the season chart to an unprecedented 28,000 points.

Barca team-mates Luis Suarez, Ivan Rakitic and 'keeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen also made the top 10 in the form chart, with Rakitic breaking the deadlock and Suarez netting a double at the Benito Villamarin.

Girona midfielder Cristian Portu scored to salvage a point at Atletico, while Villarreal's Pablo Fornals retained his place among the top performers following a 2-1 win over Levante.
