Manchester United transfer news and rumours: David de Gea, Marco Asensio, Andreas Pereira

David de Gea of Manchester United

All the latest Manchester United transfer news and rumours from across the British and European press on Thursday, January 11.

Real Madrid have pulled out of a deal to sign Athletic Bilbao goalkeeper Kepa Arizzabalaga, and Cristiano Ronaldo thinks the Spanish champions would lure David de Gea away from his former club Manchester United.

Kepa looked set to trade the San Mames for the Bernabeu during this window but with medical tests showing the 23-year-old may need surgery on a foot injury, Real appear to have cooled their interest.

And Spanish media outlet Don Balon claims former Old Trafford favourite Ronaldo is aware of Real could swoop for De Gea, who nearly moved to Madrid several windows ago, only for paperwork problems to halt the deal.

Sticking with Don Balon, and they claim United have tried to lure Marco Asensio to Old Trafford with a lucrative contract.

The Real Madrid youngster's development at the Bernabeu has caught the eyes of many across Europe, including United boss Jose Mourinho, but the European champions are understood to be reluctant to sell.

Elsewhere, Andreas Pereira has expressed his desire to remain at Valencia on loan until the end of the season.
