Manchester United have joined Liverpool and Juventus in the race to sign Cagliari midfielder Nicolo Barella, according to Italian media outlet Corriere dello Sport.
They claim the 20-year-old could be available for around £44m this month, and that Jose Mourinho is keen on bringing him to Old Trafford.
United have also joined the race to sign Benfica forward Umaro Embalo, according to Bild, but face a battle with other top European clubs
Barcelona, Real Madrid and RB Leipzig have all been linked with the 16-year-old, who is yet to play for Benfica's first team.
United have reportedly snubbed a swap deal for Alexis Sanchez including Anthony Martial, according French radio station RMC.
Martial scored in United's 3-0 win over Stoke on Monday Night Football, and has netted 10 times this season in 31 appearances. United are likely to duel with Chelsea for the signing of Arsenal forward Sanchez in January.
