Defender Christoph Zimmermann has signed a new three-and-a-half year deal with Norwich City.

Zimmermann has been a regular in the Canaries line-up since his move to Norfolk from Borussia Dortmund II over the summer.

He has made 20 Sky Bet Championship appearances since his opening day debut against Fulham.

Zimmermann told the club's official website: "I've mentioned it before, but in the summer I was just happy to have the chance to come here and play for Norwich City. It's the best thing that could have happened for me.

"I'm looking forward to having some more years here."

Head coach Daniel Farke, who previously worked with the centre-back in Germany, added: "We are really happy with Christoph's performances.

"He came in as a young centre-back but has played many minutes. He's been really important and has helped us become a good team defensively.
