Leeds United have signed teenage midfielder Dario Meadows on a season-long loan.

Meadows is an Italy U16 international, although he is originally from Kent and moved to Italy at the age of six.

The 17-year-old, who has come through Roma's youth system and featured for their U19 side, plays mainly as a winger, but he can also operate in a number of other roles.

Meadows, who is still eligible to represent England as he has an English father and Italian mother, will initially link up with the Leeds academy sides at Thorp Arch and will be able to feature for the U23s and U18s.

"I've played for AS Roma for eight years and now I'm excited for this opportunity on loan at Leeds United," he told his new club's official website.

"I've played in a lot of positions for Roma but my dominant position is probably a winger - I've played for the national team at U16s as a winger, so that's probably my best position.

"But I've also played at full-back and in attacking midfield, so I can play in different positions.
