Borussia Monchengladbach have announced the signing of Swiss international Yann Sommer, after confirming that No.1 Marc-Andre ter Stegen would be leaving this summer.
Borussia have confirmed that 21-yar-old ter Stegen will depart for a 'foreign' club, which is understood to be Barcelona, where he will replace Victor Valdes.
The Bundesliga side have wasted little time in finding a replacement in the shape of Basle keeper Sommer, who has agreed a five-year deal and will officially join at the end of the current campaign.
"After Marc-Andre ter Stegen informed us that he definitely wants to leave at end of season, we have now reached an agreement with his new club on the transfer arrangements. He will move abroad," confirmed Borussia sporting director Max Eberl.
"His successor in goal for Borussia will be Yann Sommer.
"He is an excellent goalkeeper who has already gained a lot of international experience and we are delighted that he has chosen us."
