Bolton have approached Sky Bet Championship rivals Charlton about taking forward Igor Vetokele on a three-month loan.

Wanderers have amassed just four goals in eight fixtures to date and have lost both Zach Clough and Emile Heskey to injury this month.

Vetokele, 23, scored 11 times last year but has only started once for Guy Luzon's Addicks this term and could be tempted by the promise of regular first-team football for Neil Lennon's club.

"We've made an approach," Lennon confirmed.

"We're waiting to hear if that will be successful or not.

"He had a really good half of the season last year, he's pacy and he's quite good in the air. He's a good finisher once he's in there. I think he's a player who, if he does come, will make us better."
