Sean McConville has signed a new deal at Accrington until 2018.

The midfielder returned to the Wham Stadium in the summer from Chester and has since made 28 appearances for the Sky Bet League Two side this season.

The 26-year-old initially left in 2011 for Stockport and his contract was due to expire at the end of the season.

"The fans have been great with me," McConville told the club's official site. "There were a few murmurs when I came back but they've been first class with me since I came back through the door really and I thank them for that.

"I'm pleased to have played regularly this season. Goals and assists are a plus but the most important thing is working hard for the shirt and I think I've done that. I'm happy that this new contract is there as a bit of a reward."

McConville has scored five goals for John Coleman's side this term having initially come through the ranks at the club, making his debut in 2009, and has played 117 times for Stanley.

"Sean's been fantastic since he came back," added Coleman. "He's getting into good areas, making a big contribution and getting plenty of chances.
